Popcorn machen – Eine aufregende Entspannungsaktivität | Zwischen Pixel und Korn

On Instagram: My newest hobby: making corn pop 🌽 so I can enjoy self-made popcorn 🍿.

On Instagram: My newest hobby: making corn pop 🌽 so I can enjoy self-made popcorn 🍿.

Indeed, I indulged myself very much in my new hobby and out of 8 evenings, I prepared popcorn on 5 evenings (I think that’s quite much). On the last day I finally figured out a good ratio of sugar and maize kernels.

Making my own popcorn is an exciting relaxation activity to me. Every time I start making my own popcorn, the thrill kicks and so many questions arise, making my excitement visible: Will it work out? Will every kernel pop? No one will get burnt, won’t it? Will the sugar level be yummy?

The responses won’t be there before the end of this whole popcorn making process. I start by putting oil, sugar and maize into a pot, cover it with a lid and then it’s a lot about keeping my nerves while switching between waiting and shaking the pot. Waiting for the first pop.

Many more questions flush into my head: Is it hot enough? Isn’t it about time for the first kernel to pop? I must have waited for a few minutes already. Why hasn’t anything popped yet? Oh no, they are burning!?

And then:

Pop. Salvation.

The next pop comes in. While it’s more like drizzle at the beginning, it’s like pouring rain afterwards: You can’t count the pops anymore. Everything is over after a few minutes. The last kernel pops.

The last thing to do then is (assuming everything went well): sitting on the couch and enjoying my self-made popcorn.
